How to Make a DIY Cleaner for All Your Appliances

by Pam Silvia

Renew Your Refrigerator

Hold back on the bleach and other harsh chemicals when it comes to beautifying your refrigerator!  All you need are a few simple ingredients for an  all-natural cleaner that will make your fridge really shine  inside and out. All you’ll need to mix is 1 cup of white vinegar, 2 cups hot water, and several drops of lemon essential oil for that fresh scent in a bowl. We recommend using at least 10 drops of the essential oil  to ensure your kitchen smells perfectly citrusy.

If you have a spray bottle, put the mixture in that and spray your refrigerator inside and out. You’ll notice any stuck on food slide down the walls with ease.

Douse Your Dishwasher

Dishwashers are really good at cleaning your dishes, but they aren’t so great at cleaning themselves. That’s where you come in. After a couple of weeks or months, your dishwasher could start to get backed up with food debris and diffuse some not so fresh odors.

You’ll want to first locate the drain, remove the filter and thoroughly clean it out so there are no chunks of food residing in it. After doing that, place a large cup or bowl of white distilled vinegar in the bottom rack and a half cup of baking soda into another cup or bowl on the top rack. Then you’ll run a normal cycle, allowing the vinegar and baking soda to work their magic while you sit back and relax.

Ogle Your Oven

Over time, ovens can get pretty messy. From drips and spills to burns and smoke-filled kitchens, your oven staying clean is crucial to keeping your environment and food as fresh as can be. Don’t settle for a grimy oven when yours could easily stay clean with these simple steps.

Baking soda and water. That’s it!

Add the appropriate amount of each substance into a bowl so that it makes a paste and then scrub it all over the inside of your oven with a sponge or wet washcloth. Let it sit for 20 minutes and then wipe it off. You’ll be amazed how quickly the food splatters will disappear!
