The duo over at Spoon Fork knows all about spicing up classic recipes, gaining prestigious features in Country Living, The Huffington Post, and Good Housekeeping, plus television segments on Today and Good Morning America. Needless to say, the kitchen is an important part of the home for Teri Lyn Fisher and Jenny Park, so when it came time for Fisher to update her recently purchased 1950s ranch-style home, starting with the kitchen was the obvious route.
After putting together the right look with mood boards, Fisher decided to go with a new-age take on classic design. To achieve the look, the food guru partnered with Bosch for a kitchen suite that has a timeless feel, plenty of usefulness, and performance that keeps up with her at-home food tests.
Follow along to see how Teri Fisher took this…
…and used the clean styling of Bosch kitchen appliances along with a fresh color palate to create an updated vintage feel that honors the charm of this 1950s ranch-style home.

Appliances in This Kitchen
Seeing a new kitchen design come to life can be exciting. Fortunately, Fisher — who is also a photographer — documents every step of her kitchen makeover journey in a dynamic side-by-side demonstration of how great appliances and thoughtful interior design can completely reimagine a space. Carefully segmenting the kitchen into three unique zones helped Fisher and her builders accomplish a new workflow that efficiently uses each section of this small kitchen to the Spoon Fork Bacon co-founder’s advantage. Here’s how she did it.
The Situation: Old Refrigeration
A common challenge with older homes is size, which was only made more difficult by wall-to-wall wood that shrank the space. What’s more, an outdated top-freezer refrigerator with a clashing white finish, bulky dimensions, and noisy operation made the old fridge an unintentional focal point of the kitchen.
The Solution: A Bosch 800 Series Refrigerator
For a fresh, earthy feel, Fisher opted for warmer earth tones. Shown here, the sage-green cabinetry and terracotta flooring contrast well against white walls for an open and airy feel, which is accentuated further by updated clean lines. The Bosch 800 Series French door refrigerator featured in this remodel helps retain the clean look with a counter-depth design, flush doors, and minimal hardware.
Its space-saving design is also the key to achieving a slim spice cabinet encasing the entire refrigerator, and its stainless-steel finish is compatible with virtually any kitchen style. Just as exciting are the number of refrigerator features this French door refrigerator delivers, including the Bosch FarmFresh System. Four individual technologies tackle food spoilage, humidity, and temperature for one of the best food preservation in its class.
It’s a major upgrade from the last model, especially with innovative food preservation technology, including:
- MultiAirFlow for even air circulation and temperature across the entire interior
- VitaFreshPro temperature and humidity adjustability
- AirFresh odor neutralizer
- FreshProtect ethylene filter
- Wi-Fi compatibility
The Situation: Oversized Cooking Setup
The gas range from this kitchen’s original design was arguably one of the better parts of the older kitchen concept, but its massive footprint challenged the space’s tight real estate.
The Solution: Bosch Sleek Cooking Appliances + Ventilation
By swapping the range for a Bosch 800 Series 30" gas cooktop, valuable workspace was able to be regained, and it provided the perfect opportunity to splurge on marble countertops. But performance wasn’t compromised. Exclusive FlameSelect burners with nine unique power levels, plus a dual-stack design, deliver the agility to go from high-heat sears up to 18,000 BTUs to low simmers in a flash. Meanwhile, a Bosch 500 Series canopy chimney hood captures up to 60,000 BTUs with an airflow of 600 cubic feet per minute (CFM).
Best of all, the high-end gas cooktop installs above a Bosch 30” wall oven to replicate the convenience of range but with a profile that fits better with the new Shaker-style cabinetry. The oven still provides ample room for baking with a 4.6-cubic-foot capacity, along with Genuine European Convection Roast. Foods cook up to 25 percent faster, with better results, and never need to be rotated mid-bake.
To accompany its sleek design, this Bosch electric wall oven is made with sleek touch controls, QuietClose door with dampened hinges, and syncs with the Home Connect App that is operatable from smart device wherever there’s Wi-Fi.
For Fisher, the last thing she wanted to do was to cover up her gorgeous marble countertops with a microwave. Instead, she and her designers went built-in with a Bosch 800 Series 30” speed oven. This two-in-one appliance fits into the space of a large drawer while providing the output to microwave quick foods or to use a convection setting for extra oven space when the main wall oven is in use. As Fisher mentions, it’s also a great alternative to a double wall oven in small kitchens where cabinet space is especially valuable.
The Situation: Outdated Dishwashing Technology
Needless to say, the Spoon Fork Bacon co-founder plans on doing a lot of cooking in her new kitchen, and that means a lot of cleanup. The model in the old kitchen was outdated, but luckily, Bosch Benchmark has some of the best dishwashers in the industry, such as the one chosen for this remodel.
The Solution: A Bosch Benchmark Dishwasher with CrystalDry
This Benchmark Series dishwasher with CrystalDry technology is a state-of-the-art cleaning machine capable of keeping up with all the at-home recipe testing Teri will be doing for Spoon Fork Bacon. It’s subtle in every aspect, from a minimal panel front and handlebar design, to its extra-quiet operation at 40 decibels. Fisher also comments on how easy it is to load dishes in this machine with the addition of a flexible third rack. In all, the extra dish zone provides 30 percent more loading area on top of 16 place settings and fold-down tines.
Together with PrecisonWash that actively monitors soil levels in the water and CrystalDry, which uses minerals to super-heat water to 176 degrees for dishes that are up to 60 percent drier, Fisher states, “I LOVE this dishwasher,” which means a lot coming from someone who deals with dish cleanup more than the average dishwasher user.
