Sanitize Your Dishes With a Bosch Dishwasher

by jeff clemens

One of the most important features in a dishwasher is the ability to sanitize dishes. Unlike most dishwasher brands, virtually all Bosch dishwashers feature a sanitizing wash option. But in true Bosch fashion, they take it a step further with PureDry™ technology, which ensures outside contaminants do not enter the dishwasher after the sanitizing process. See it in action in the video below.

PureDry™ Technology

Add in superior cleaning power and some of the best sound ratings in the industry and it’s easy to see why Bosch dishwashers are some of our top selling in all price classes.

Here is our list of the top-five most popular Bosch dishwasher models right now.

1. 500 Series DLX Built In-Dishwasher Model SHP865ZD

Bosch's Unbranded Pocket Handle Front

This dishwasher is one of the industry's quietest units rated at 44 dB and features flexible loading thanks to its flexible 3rd Rack with expandable wings that easily lower to accommodate more of your deeper item and its RackMatic® upper rack with three height adjustments and up to nine possible rack positions.

Rack Flexibility Overview

Another great feature is the pocket handle and unbranded front show below, which allow the dishwasher to blend easily with other brands for use as a replacement for a broken dishwasher or an upgrade to a package with cooking and refrigeration products from another brand.

Last but not least, this model is available in black, white and stainless to match your choice of appliance finish.

Obviously price is a concern for most consumers. While it’s not the most expensive Bosch unit, it is in one of the more expensive units on the market at $899. Still, the feature set and the ability to integrate with other brands seems to be enough for most customers because it is by far the best selling model at Grand.

2. 300 Series Built-In Dishwasher Model SHEM63W5

300 Series Dishwasher 24'' Stainless steel SHEM63W55N SHEM63W55N-1

Like the SHP865ZD shown above, this dishwasher is available in black, white and stainless and features a quiet 44 dB rating, RackMatic® adjustable upper rack and a third rack for utensils and other odd shaped items; however the 3rd rack is not adjustable. The price is also a bit better than the SHP865ZD above at $719 in black or white and $769 in stainless.

Despite a similar feature set and lower price, it still is significantly outsold by the model above. The adjustable third rack is a factor, but we find more often the hidden controls and logo-less front of the SHP865ZD are what convince most customers to upgrade.

3. 100 Series Built In Dishwasher Model SHXM4AY5

100 Series Dishwasher 24'' Stainless steel SHXM4AY55N SHXM4AY55N-1

This model is popular with our customers because it’s the lowest priced Bosch dishwasher with a towel bar front, has three rack flexibility and is available in white, black, stainless steel and black stainless steel. Also, like our first model, SHP865ZD, there is no brand on the front so it can be integrated into multi-branded kitchens if the handles are similar. However, it lacks a RackMatic® adjustable upper rack, which reduces some of the loading flexibility when compared to the first two options on the list and is one of the loudest models on this list with a 48 dB sound rating.

Still at $629 in black and white, $674 in stainless steel and $764 in black stainless steel, it’s a pretty attractive option for many customers.

4. 100 Series Built In Dishwasher Model SHEM3AY5

100 Series Dishwasher 24'' Stainless steel SHEM3AY55N SHEM3AY55N-1

This model is popular because it is the least expensive Bosch dishwasher available today. It is the only model on our list that has two racks and clocks in at a 50 dB sound rating making it the noisiest model on our list. Still, it features many of the same cleaning features of the other models making it a better option than many competitive brands in its class and the price point of $449 in black and white and $539 in stainless steel makes this a very popular option among our customers.

5. 800 Series Built In Dishwasher Model SHPM78Z5

Bosch's Unbranded Pocket Handle Front

Despite being the most expensive model on our list, this model is still very popular with many customers thanks to its 42 dB quiet rating and CrystalDry™ technology, which get dishes 60% drier. Building upon PureDry™ technology shown above, CrystalDry™ technology uses a fan and natural mineral to transform moisture into heat to ensure virtually everything -- even plastics -- come out of the dishwasher dry and ready to be put away. See it in action below:

CrystalDry™ Technology

In addition to Crystal Dry and quiet operation, SHPM78Z5 has all the toys listed in our top rated model including a flexible 3rd Rack with expandable wings, RackMatic® adjustable upper rack and pocket handle that allows it to easily blend into multi-branded kitchens.

However, despite all the great features in this dishwasher, the price jump is pretty significant at $1,034 in white, black and stainless steel and $1,079 in black stainless steel, which limits sales and explains why it would come in at fifth on our list.
