Whoever said grilling was a man’s game is wrong -- and these women prove it.
1. Elizabeth Karmel (Carolina Cue To-Go)
What hasn’t Elizabeth Karmel done? Hailing from North Carolina, Karmel founded Hill Country Barbecue Market in New York City,, has written several books, and often appears on Food Network. She also created Girls at the Grill, a website focused on, well, girls who grill!
She’s even brought a digital approach to cuisine with CarolinaCueToGo.Com, which lets you order BBQ anywhere you are. Combine that with a new grill from Grand’s, and you’ll be set for summer!
2. Amy Mills (17th Street BBQ)
BBQ really does run in the family.
At least for Amy Mills, daughter of legendary Mike Mills, it certainly does. Building upon her father’s legacy, Amy is an award-winning writer and all around grilling marketing guru. She also consults around the world, furthering BBQ for mouths -- and families -- all over.
3. Deborah and Mary Jones (Jones BBQ)
You may already be familiar with Kansas City sisters Deborah and Mary Jones -- they were featured on season 3 of “Queer Eye.”
You don’t have to make the trip to Kansas City to try out their sauces and flavors, either. Head over to their website, and you can buy their sauce to use on your own grilling projects!
4. Tootsie Tomanetz (Snow’s BBQ)
Texas knows a thing or two about a thing or two, and one of those things is BBQ. The fact that Snow’s BBQ was repeatedly named as the best in Texas really says something.
Behind Snow’s is none other than pit boss Tootsie Tomanetz, who brings her 80+ years of life experience to her cooking every Saturday. Just get in line early, because the goods don’t last long!
Through the fire and the flames, these women have shown just what it takes to forge impressive paths in the world of BBQ cooking. And when you are on your own grilling adventures, always remember to stop by or give us a call! We’ll be glad to get you set up to make the best BBQ you can at home!
